Well...........
As some of you know i went to see Journey with my good friend Sam, they were playing in Sheffield, which is only 20 mins or so away from me, so i guess it would have been rude not to go...
The gig was sold out, which is always great for the band, we had really decent seats on row K so we had a perfect view, but as some of you may know Sheffield City Hall is a seated venue.
Up first was Danny Vaughn, he did an acoustic set which was very nice, very chilled, and almost everyone was sat down for this, after he went off, me and Sam decided to go to the bar, we had only been gone 5 mins when i said, im sure i can hear Jeff Scott Soto singing, and Sam said noooooo it cant be him, so i listenend a bit harder, and i said... er it is, so we looked at eachother, and decided the drink could wait till later, and went back into the Hall, and yes they were on stage!! That is the quickest turn around i have ever seen from Support Act to Headlining Act.
Anyway, we went back to our seats, but didnt sit down, everyone in the place was stood up at this point rocking away.
I cant remember the set list, but there were alot of great songs, and some of them were sung by their very own drummer Deen Castronovo, who i have to say has an amazing voice.
Jeff Scott Soto, Ahhhhhhhh now what can i say about this guy? He is a fantastic singer, great stage presence, and very energetic, but somehow i just couldnt shake the feeling that he wasnt Journey, i cant explain what i mean, as i really like Jeff, he is as ive said an excellent singer, and some of my friends know him personally and they all agree what a great guy he is, but all the way through the set list i just wanted him to start singing "BREAK THESE CHAINS" by "TALISMAN" but as i was at a Journey gig, that didnt happen *lol*
They played for around 2 hours, which i thought was good value for money, as the tickets were quite expensive, but they did put on a good show.
They had a beautiful red piano on stage, which i could have easily taken home with me, well i guess not that easy as it wouldnt have fit into my handbag, but you know what i mean?? *lol*
They did play a mixed variety of songs, but like i say i didnt take a mental note of them all, maybe someone else that went to the gig could help me out here?? There were some songs that me and my friend both discussed later that we would have changed for other Journey songs, but i guess they like to play a little bit of everything, even dating back to their very early years.
All in all, it was a very chilled out gig, which was nice, as i have been quite partied out lately (not complaining though)
Thats all for now, will add a couple of pics soon.
